Paul Slatford joined The Perse Upper School in 2017. As part of his work in the Chemistry department, he is investigating a new approach to teaching the concept of the mole. After conducting research in the field of flipped learning during his MEd, Paul is looking to make full use of it in teaching this demanding aspect of the GCSE Chemistry curriculum:
“Quantitative analysis is traditionally thought to be cognitively difficult by both pupils and staff. The aim of my research will be to assess whether using a flipped approach will enable a more effective teaching episode. This will be evaluated by both pupil and teacher by triangulating teacher observations with pupil feedback and small group interviews.”
